Read Romans 5:1-5.
- Do you feel like praising God when things don't go your way? Why or why not?
- Think of past problems you've faced. How did you deal with them?
- How does suffering produce character, perseverance, and hope?
- Describe a time when you were able to rejoice in your suffering?
- How does music help you deal with tough times?
- How does being a Catholic-Christian help you deal with hard times?
Read Philippians 4:4.
St Paul didn't just say 'rejoice" only when you feel up to it. Good times or bad -- we are commanded to REJOICE! Give God the Praise that is due! Of course, you and I both know that Rejoicing in difficult times isn't always easy to do.
Take a look at the chorus:
I know life may not always go
You can't stand it
Your left alone
and abandoned
I know the one who's in control
How he made you, won't leave you
Forsake you or deceive you
B Reith's lyrics remind us of God's promise that even though situations may not always go the way we expect, God will never forget us or forsake us in our time of need. God never forgets us when we cry. Isn't that reason enough to rejoice?
